baten kaitos is on my mind once again, and thus id like to make a fun post about the "crafting" system eternal wings employs, which is never necessary and... honestly, it's been awhile, but i dont remember if the game itself ever tells you how it works. it throws a couple tongue in cheek 'recipes' at you, but...
well, that's what you've got me for.

This system is referred to as SP combos ingame. From the name, you might assume it will help you in combat, but its actually for cooking rice. While fighting.
It's fairly simple in theory, you have to play specific cards in specific orders on your turn, such as Egg > Large Fire, which results in a Fried Egg. The materials aren't consumed, because combat cards can't be used up, but you can only choose one card in combat rewards from each battle, barring special cases, and that pool includes enemy drops and photographs as well. So you may have to try again, if something you want more drops from the same fight.
Anyways. There are some really wacky items only available through this system, like, you guessed it. Pac-Man. He is created with the recipe Cherries > Strawberries > Orange > Apple > Melon, and he functions as an offensive item that gets stronger over time. Using a Blank Notebook with the Magic Pen gives you a Prophet's Notebook, which tells you which cards have changed over time if you open the menu while it's in your inventory, before the writing fades after 10 hours. You can always make another, at least...
Anyways theres like 140 of these recipes and I could write about them all day. I won't, but i certainly could. See you when the remaster drops!
