love to have an internet outage during work lmao. ok i guess here's some not tweets i forgot to make during the week
- bokunatsu2 fan tl?? oh my god
- on one hand, i kinda miss twitter, and being able to see fanart/keep up with what friends are doing/etc. but on the other, not knowing whatever stupid and meaningless discourse is going on is so liberating
- the other day i learned that elden ring 1.0.8 buffed my favorite weapon (the grave scythe). uh oh! oh and i also learned that the regular scythe has a unique r2? how did i never hear anything about that until now
- i think i forgot to mention that i played sylvie lime, so: i played sylvie lime! and it's extremely good!
- design-wise, it came across to me as a hyper-condensed la-mulana, which for the record is one of the best things i could say about a 2d exploration-y platformer. it's got it all: very specific controls that require you to constantly think about how to move, environments that need to be navigated carefully, an open-ended map with lots of secrets... you love to see it
- however, what makes it unique to me is its tone! la-mulana's attitude towards the player is very much something like "fuck you. die", but sylvie lime, despite being aimilarily difficult, feels more like "hey, look at this cool thing :)". it's a live display of what sylvie talked about in her essay The Designer's Heart Laid Bare; an actual dialogue, where not only am i being shown a cool trick that's possible with the game mechanics, i'm also being asked to show any fun things i might be able to do with this trick!
- oh, and the story is also very cute... goes perfectly with the game's light-hearted vibe. yep, this one's just good all around, and i can't recommend it enough!
- internet still not back lol
