Roots Of Yggdrasil

Genre: Norse-Themed Roguelike Building Sim
Ragnarök has happened, the world has been destroyed, now it's time to rebuild. From the hub world you go out on randomly generated maps with the objective of bringing back Yggdrasil-Roots (which means fulfilling a random objective like building certain things in its reach). The maps themselves have an interesting boardgame-esque loop where buildings get more expensive the more you build them, but you also want to build / fit as many as possible together since the advanced buildings require a certain amount / get stronger from existing buildings. The game is still in an early state (the demo is marked as Alpha) and thus, a lot of features are locked and the difficulty is pretty harsh, but I feel like there might be something here!

Gonna write my thoughts about some Steam Next Fest demos I played here!

Phantom Brigade

Genre: Mecha Turn-Based Strategy
Phantom Brigade has an interesting concept: You get to plan your moves ahead for the next 5 seconds of "real time", and you can also see which moves the enemy is going to make and react to them. In practice, it felt a little bit too clunky UI-wise (not enough information about the enemy actions or the damage an attack would do) for me to have fun with it, but I think this'll be fun for people that like to micro manage, you can probably pull off some sick strategies - without crashing your mechs into each other like I did.
