if anyone is skeptical of how important voting in local primaries is, there is currently a statewide primary for State Lands Commissioner in my state (Washington) where as of time of writing, the difference between the 2nd and 3rd place candidates is 51 votes (across the entire state), and this will decide whether we have a fairly progressive environmentalist on the ballot in November or two conservative republicans (including my former congressperson who I know sucks)
