The second portion of Deuteronomy! Once again, we went back over a number of topics including the Ten Commandments, Moses not being allowed into the Promised Land, the receiving of the Torah, rules around idolatry and intermarriage on entering the Promised Land, and many, many admonitions to follow G-d's commandments. We were very tired, so my recall of specific topics is a little shot, but one thing we did find interesting is how different the tone of the writing is here- it's much more conversational than anything we've gotten previously, espcially in Leviticus and Numbers.
We also had some interesting notes from Ibn Ezra concerning such things as empiricism and the jews' ongoing immunity to astrology
as well as him asking who the fuck else we'd be talking about when we say "G-d" in the Torah
