- Cora comes over to help Liza with cleaning her house more; they have some snacks and follow up on the closet in Liza's office. Liza goes to get a lantern and gets lost on the way back; Aspechka comes home from school and finds Cora, who wonders where Liza's gone; Liza finds her way back through the wrong direction. Aspechka returns to the kitchen, and Cora and Liza get lost again. Ovida visits Aspechka while looking for Cora and tries some yew jam. Meanwhile, Cora and Liza have found themselves in an atrium filled with an odd assortment of plants, which Cora escapes by reproducing the front door of Liza's house. They walk back in and encounter Aspechka and Ovida, who've gone looking for them in Liza's office and have been speculating that they left through the window. We also learn that Basilisk has, at one point, expanded the shrine space and possibly others in the house.
- Ovida shows Cora the mango tree limb/back tattoo that she's grown from their conversation. It's a bit weird, but Liza and Cora both take a mango; Cora tastes hers and proceeds to consume the fruit of clarity ravenously, seed and all, as her rider eyes show.
- Ovida and Mara visit Theremin in the chrysalis, a region of the Low Outside bordering Old Molder. This is Theremin's garden for Keeper of Gardens, and it has the property that you will shapes it around you. They travel towards Theremin, walking along the notional boundary between the chrysalis and the rest of the Low Outside, rather precariously. Theremin realizes they're there and shifts them to themself.
- Taking them to the roof of a structure in the center of the chrysalis, Theremin shows Ovida and Mara a sensation of the unitary nature of all things, causing them to briefly run together. This puts Mara, a rider, into a panic, because the paradigm for this is one that she didn't expect and is pretty alien to her still. She recovers and asks to try it again, but talk turns to what her experience is. She shows them her own subjectivities of having a wyrd and eide and the perception of the fine structure of symmetrical non-causality.1 Ovida closes by informing everyone that she died recently.
