when we say "clockwork angel" we mean like, a worldbuilding interpretation of angels who are not so defined by the "hierarchical subservience to a deity" thing but rather are manifestations / embodiments of physical and metaphysical concepts or structures. also they do that John Dee style thing where angels are made up of smaller angels, like Timekeeper's chest orb is an archival and data processing angel for all of chronology, while xer vertical head shape is the present moment

taking some worldbuilder's "poetic license" with religious-originated terms here, like an 'Aeon' is here an upper-level angel that Does Something, while a 'Firmament' is a noun-y angel, a metaphysical object acted on by other angels
