suddenly remembered this 2010 ass picture and i think it's funny how relevant it still is with streaming, just in different ways

unless i pirate a show i likely can't:

be sure the service i subbed to to watch it will still have it in the future
be sure the service i watched it on won't replace it with a shitty AI "remaster" in the future
watch it offline
transform the video; eg adding sound normalization or custom subtitles, removing black bars to fill the screen, etc
easily choose the resolution regardless of the device
easily take screenshots
easily record clips
share it with family/friends
stream it to family/friends

I remember as a kid I'd hit STOP twice and then hit play. On a lot of DVDs it'd take you either straight to the Main Menu or it'd just play the movie. I could be misremembering though.
