so I made the horrible decision to finally get into the warhammer 40k tabletop game. I've read some books and played like 200 hours of rogue trader but I've never painted a little guy to fight another little guy.
my question: what's your favorite faction and why? space marines are kinda boring imo, thinking about tech priests or battle sisters but open to suggestions
Orks. Their players have the most fun, their fluff is great, their aesthetics are broad and engaging (beast snaggas aside), and their models are fun to paint.

Orks are the most fun to play as, but they're ass to paint because you need so many of them and they have a lot of details on their models.
Personally I like the play style of necrons the most, you sit on a point and don't move ever or die ever.
I've also heard necrons are the easiest to paint. they were real fun in dawn of war!

YES, nocturne of oblivion, he's great! i think it's really cool that his dialogue is in iambic pentameter, really leans into the whole Theatre aspect of them ^w^
GSC are my favourite cuz I love the workers rise up/alien horror of them, but also do not collect GSC. You will spend so much money and they are a pain to paint.
Sisters are really neat, and all their models are absolutely fantastic, but also I'm very partial to orks. They're the only people having a good time in 40k
i will echo the tau suggestions, failing to suggest space marines (i totally understand not being into them, i just think they're neat(tm))
they're cool, they have cool gear, they got mechs with hooves and railguns
i think necrons are cool, chaos space marines are wonderfully ridiculous
