well its the first episode I've put out in over a year but I got a new mix for you. I spent memorial day weekend seeing a lot of techno in detroit that inspired me to make this. but listening to pounding techno for 8 hours makes you realize you might not want that all the time, so I'll say this one is techno in the same way watermelon lacroix is watermelon.

This is my first episode of this podcast but I'd been doing DJ mixes for about 10 years at this point, starting back with a radio show in college. (That station's call sign is WCWM 90.9 which inspired the shows current name)

So I think I started off pretty strong with this one. The original intro with radio static and the gunbuster theme got shortened a bit as time went on. I also dropped most of the spoken parts because I didn't know what voice to do.

I was on a bit of a future funk kick at the time which explains the two Yung Bae tracks and the general Disco vibes.

so I've been doing a dj mix podcast (very sporadically) since late 2019, now called WGNB 909.9. the idea was that it would be themed as a deep space radio station set in / inspired by the "Gunbuster" universe. Mostly because one of the gunbuster commercial bumps sounded like a good radio jingle and why not? so the title is a radio call sign, W (the standard for radio stations on the east coast of the us) and GuNBuster.

since cohost didn't exist when I started and because there's no limit on length for posts, I thought I'd do a little web log going over the 22 episodes I've done so far. and also maybe encourage me to make some more. so here's the first post on the first episode, enjoy.
