my PC is being fucking odd. for a long time the display settings have refused to open, even after a Windows 11 refresh (installed but kept local files). I kind of ignored it because it rarely comes up and it's otherwise a very solid PC still in terms of speed and ability to handle heavy software usage for audio work and game dev.
But today it's no longer showing/loading the task bar. If I hover over the taskbar I get the loading circle. If I click on the task bar or hit the windows key, things flash but nothing appears. I cannot open settings (trying to use cmd to launch settings gets me "uhhh what's settings?"). (added the read more to take up less timeline space!)
my task bar came back after I restarted again?? I hate windows!
display settings still won't open, but normal settings are back and windows key works
.....ok well, idk, I'll take it. This coming work week is very busy and I'll be relieved if I can just get to next weekend.
On the plus side, all of my important stuff is backed up, I can make a proper backup of my C drive now, and I can plan to do a clean re-install that is more on my own terms and timeline. (I still want to do it soon, I'm taking this as a warning sign lol. Computer's tummy aches)
Btw: I think what brought back my taskbar and settings for some reason was updating my GeForce Nividia driver to the latest driver. I update this regularly so it's wild that it may have caused all the worse of the issues? Frustrating that I still have the display settings problem though.
