I wish I understood how we (collectively as game devs) could unionize, especially in the AAA scene
it's like, I know it should happen? it should have happened a decade ago probably?
but I can't even wrap my head how to work towards getting into an acting guild when I look into the requirements---then add the complication of being a US citizen living long term in Canada. Do I apply in the US or to a Canadian guild? I have asked the guilds directly and all I ever get back is legalese!
a lot of stuff around unions feels complicated in a way that makes my bureaucracy-hating neurodivergent brain whither to a husk (looking at you SAG-AFTRA)
and I certainly don't have the brain or energy to organize anything more than a rambling text post
idk man! does every AAA studio need its own union? do companies bought out by big corpos need their own union? is there a way to make One Big Game Industry Union? Is it better to be split into professions? Can there be an Audio and Music Union that encompasses everything from full time AAA to part time freelancers?
