just found a VST called Soundpaint that's a free download that you can buy sample libraries for (found because I was looking for a steel drum library lol)

they have a number of free libraries for it as well, and it looks pretty decent!

I haven't used it yet but this video is a nice walk through

I only just noticed today that Baby Audio (they make the Super VHS plugin I have used occasionally over the years when I want a nice analog saturation vibe, and I grabbed their new synth VST BA-1 while it's currently Half Off for launch) has a handful of free plugins!

I grabbed them and installed them and they seem pretty neat!

• Pitch Drift: like the name implies, a simple pitch drift you can adjust the intensity of. Nothin' too wild, but a nice little tool
• Magic Switch: Taken from Super VHS, so a little unecessary for me BUT if you don't have the Super VHS plugin, this is a nice way to a nice slightly de-tuned chorus effect.
• Baby Comeback: a nice little delay with a suprising amount of flexibility for a freebee
• Magic Dice: apparently pulls from one of their plugins (Spaced Out) which I don't own. "you lush delay / reverb / modulation textures" that you can endlessly randomize by hitting the single button that makes up the plugin. I've only hit it a few times out of curiosity but it gets some neat sounds.
• nu.wav samples: I'm not a big sample user myself, it's pretty rare I even use a drum loop, but there are some fun sounds in here, all with a analog vibe. a few sound useful as source material for sound effects~

I can't take myself seriously because I just caught myself saying "embiggen" out loud under my breath while dragging a plugin onto a track with some electric guitar i recorded for a skin deep song
