Apologies but I'm going to be Homestuck on main for a moment.
Looking back at the time I finally sat down and read through Homestuck, I never realized just how the fandom (at least around the time I was in it, which would've been like 2016-17) mischaracterized some of the characters. And for a reference of time, I read Homestuck in full around September of last year.
I think the biggest examples were the Alpha Kids, and among them, especially Roxy. I remember seeing so many people characterize Roxy as the "haha funny alcoholic girl", even though that alcoholism is a thing she had to overcome within the story. I could see people mischaracterizing the Dancestors, cause in the grand scheme of things they appear for such a small percentage of the comic. However with the Alpha Kids, they first appear in Act 6, which starts around Homestuck's halfway point. Funnily enough though, it feels like how the Alpha Kids were mischaracterized fit more in like with how they act in Trickster Mode.
