one of the puzzles in Halliday Ready Player One's "egg hunt" is a shrine to the only time he successfully talked to a girl. in his final room in the scene where Parzival wins the egg, Halliday shows that it's a recreation of his childhood bedroom, with a digital copy of his childhood self playing video games in the corner. He is a sad man who's life is defined by his childhood and teens and he was never able to move on from it- despite it being easy enough for him to do so (i.e no lasting trauma). you do not want to be this guy. no-one should aim to be this guy. you do not want to become so self-obsessed and nostalgic that you spend your life living in a tomb built to your own teenage failures
