it is surprisingly strange to hear your own voice in ytp form.

windows 10 updated itself after i went to bed last night.

in its infinite wisdom it also decided to close everything (resulting in the loss of a file i didn't save, like an idiot), break the drivers for my audio interface and re-enable a bunch of previously disabled settings (mostly related to text anti-aliasing (which i have turned off because text looks really blurry when antialiased, at least imo) but a few animation-related settings were also re-enabled. i don't like having a little animation play when i open a window or minimize it. i want it to happen instantly!)

i spent an hour fixing it. i am pissed because it didn't TELL me i was going to get an update. it didn't specify a time that the update was going to happen. and there's been a bunch of other shit.

i usually keep my computer running overnight and for some reason windows 10 has decided that it should activate a sleep mode. i did not turn this feature on. i got scared shitless when i woke up one morning and found my computer was off. i thought it was broken.

so fuck you windows, for changing so much shit without my permission! i don't give a singular fuck if it's The Way Things Are Supposed To Be or something. let me change and modify everything. cowards.

• the first page had a mod titled "AOL Girls Museum" which contains a lot of porn pictures in the screenshots.
• nuts.wad has been uploaded for the 4th time.
• another mod has a very prominent swastika in the thumbnail (and is from the doomer boards, a forum made after shitheads decided doomworld was "too woke")
• and myhouse.wad got uploaded yet again

• someone on the steam discussion forums* is asking about Moonman Doom, a mod that features 4chan loser fascist mascot moonman (a character ripped from the old mac tonight commercials, but now he says slurs! because fascists can't make art) killing minorities. someone in the thread says "it was better when internet was too complicated for non-whites, degenerates and women"

• another post on the forums asking people not to upload stolen WADs has been given multiple "clown" awards and is currently full of people saying Plagiarism Is Good, Actually.

• both the AOL girls museum level and the swastika mod are still up, even after I reported them. they are somewhat popular too, with the aol level having over 50 likes (which, for this port, is decent) so the "just report it" system doesn't work. at all.

• there's still a constant deluge of stolen stuff. someone uploaded john romero's "one humanity" level, which is a purchase-only level where all proceeds go to charity.

• myhouse.wad has been uploaded again.

*which, as is usual for steam discussion forums, a hellscape full of screaming and arguing over tiny details. there are at least 5 arguments over vertical aim.

im gonna be honest after playing through the new episode w/ friends i feel like the weapon sprites were kinda crummy? they felt unfinished, raw. they're barely touched up and just feel out of place. so i got bored and decided to redo them.

i used the original image that nightdive(?) used for the flamethrower. i couldn't find a raw version of the BFG replacement so i just stole some chunks from it.

BFG replacement is all just chunks from random weapons. the copper pipes on the side are chaingun barrels. the flamethrower is mostly made out of just the original image with some big touch ups done in photoshop, although i did add some chunks from other weapon sprites. (note the front being a mix of the plasma rifles tip and a pre-release rocket launcher + the back using an alpha rifle part.)

anyway yeah. fuck the new port's shitty wad sharing garbage. it fucks over the remix culture that makes up doom and is already being abused by bad actors.
