so I got one of those dumb little robot vacuums that goes around and cleans for you cause I really struggle to vacuum between my ADHD and back pain...

I just set it up. I named it Marvin, and ever since I turned it on I have not stopped following it around, cleaning up around it to make sure it doesn't get stuck and trying to make it's job easier.

I have gotten more done in the last 2 hours than I have in the last week.

Guys I think... I think the vacuum is body doubling for me because my brain anthropomorphized it so fast that now i can't help but treat it like a person

I'm treating my ADHD with a robot what the fuck

I have been putting off getting one of those little vacuums for so long, but hearing that makes it so much more tempting. Like everyone I know who has ADHD seems glad they got one. I should just get one when I get my tax return.
Vacuuming isn't a difficult chore, but it is probably my most hated and least completed chore. Which is a problem when you have 4 cats, 3 of which are long hair, and a corgi.

yeah I put it off for literally years because I couldn't justify the cost. I only picked it up because I found one on sale, secondhand at a price that worked for me on a whim.

It works great, gets under the couch and picks up all the cat hair. You might have to clean the rotating brush thing more often if yours are long haired but I think it is definitely worth it. Turn it on and walk away (or follow it like I seemed compelled to do) and you won't forget it is there cause it still sounds like a slightly quieter vacuum. At least the one I got. The fancier ones might be a lot quieter.

The little thing is endearing, to me, cause it bumbles around like a dumb little creature and bumps into things and backs up. Occasionally it gets stuck (like between the tub and toilet after it coasted into the bathroom) but it beeps quite loudly to alert you so it works for my ADHD ass even if I hadn't been following it everywhere.

If you're the type to assign names and personalities to objects I think it's definitely a good idea, and even if not, this thing is going to be a massive help because I can just turn it on and walk away and trust it to let me know if it needs assistance quite thoroughly. One of my more difficult to complete chores just disappeared overnight.
