The person in question has tried to ice at least eleven friends of mine out of the Boston furry community, with varying degrees of "success", based on a mix of DARVO, other such misrepresentation of events, and straight up lying. (And have displayed a long pattern of manipulative, even cruel treatment toward others outside that community, from what I've seen.)
To punish them for having "bad vibes". To punish them for ceasing to be friends with their own actively dangerous friends. To punish them for being a partner of a friend of their designated enemy of the day. And, as far as I'm aware, for even more petty reasons than that.
Living on the other side of the continent from them and having mostly detached from their entire circle long ago, I figured I should probably wait until locals decided that the time was right to do something about this person, and, well, they've made that decision now.
This is not a person who, with their current approach to conflict "resolution" and personality generally, should be running a local furry group chat, let alone a furmeet, let alone the 7th largest furry con in the world.
Was also in the situation mentioned by Shel, seen similar things happen to friends since then. It sucks, and they do not deserve the power - formal or informal - that they have.
There's a lot of things that are conflict being conflict, but just watching this from the outside as someone mostly uninvolved with the Boston Scene since pre-pandemic times, it has been a pattern that I have seen played out even among unconnected friend groups who are connected to the Boston scene.
