despite how much i have to say about character design, i always forget to tell people the most important thing which is to do literally whatever you want, no matter how cringe or bad of an idea anyone might think it is.
fidget's big black cloak was something i thought would look cool, but during the first passes my friends said it looked like a bathrobe so i left it out of his design for like a whole year
ube was literally supposed to be a league of legends fan character, and hyde is a species hybrid that multiple people told me they didn't really think would work
they all took multiple passes and i needed feedback to really get them to a place i was happy with, but if you ever feel unsatisfied with where your design(s) are, i really do encourage you to open up your mind to whatever deeply self-indulgent ideas you have, because that's driven a lot of my creativity
I have a lot of Character Design Opinions -- a whole list of things that I think just plain look bad when folks do them, and I'd love to see those things gone forever!
BUT LIKE: if it's not MY character, who cares? Don't design your characters around someone else's lists of yucks and yums. A character you make is an extension of you -- it should make YOU happy first and foremost! Anyone who tries to get you to change YOUR vision to fit THEIR whims is someone you don't really need to listen to :v
