I wanna hear em all! It can be a mostly-basic Tetris game with an interesting twist, a port of the game that has its own rotation system, or something completely bizarre! If it's Tetris (or at least Tetris-adjacent) I want to hear about it!

not sure if this counts, but we're a huge fan of puyo puyo tetris! setting off a giant chain combo is just so satisfying (we also spent years of our childhood thinking that the only game like that was mean bean machine (._.) )
Oh yeah! Big fan of Puyo Puyo Tetris, I played it a bunch at a friend's house when I went to visit her a couple months ago!
i think my favourite is probably very boring because it'd probably just be the Tetris The Grand Master series. they are very good games it's just not really the most interesting answer, as far as I can tell pretty much everyone likes TGM :P in particular I think TGM2+ is probably the "objective" best but I play TGM3 more often because despite it having some pretty wacky design decisions I think World Rule in that game is a bit of a redeeming factor as being basically the only compelling SRS singleplayer outside of like, tetris effect master mode, i guess? and I am Not very good at ARS still, lol
i feel like I gotta give a minor shoutout to DTET, which both really old and kind of a meme but I sorta dig it cause it feels like one of the few fanmade Tetresques that aren't just a straight guideline or TGM clone or dependant on some kind of gimmick - it's got a Sega-based rotation system but with SRS-like kicks, as well as some other weird mechanics like a 3-state ISZ (instead of the sega/ars 2-state or guidline 4-state, it has two vertical rotations but only 1 horizontal), 180s by pressing one rotation button while holding the other, and also by default it has not 1, not 3, but fifty 25 next piece previews lmao (i usually disable that and set it to three though because the way they're positioned makes it look like there's a hold slot and that confuses my brain). i don't play it a whole lot tbh but I think it's interesting if nothing else
Big fan of TGM as well! I'm still working toward getting a GM on TGM1 before I move onto TAP!
Also DTET sounds like a good time! I'd also probably disable the big next queue but the rotation system sounds very interesting!!!
i decided to double check the preview size and minor correction, it's actually 25 pieces and not 50. not sure where I got that number from 🤔

Actually -- are you still able to run DTET? I can't get it to start on my PC for some reason, even in compatibility mode. But I might just be missing something dumb haha
you're probably missing dx7vb.dll. it runs fine on windows 10 if you have that and have it registered

for a long time it was the fastest game in the vague tradition of sega/TGM by way of ARE cancelling and (in rush mode) instant DAS? and the lenient kick tables and 180s meant you could do some insanely messed up stuff. i liken it to having hold without actually having hold
but yeah it's a good time. i spent a while on and off trying to beat joker mode before finally bringing it home a few months ago
oh wow, I didn't even realize it had 180s! I just poked my nose into it this morning for a few minutes, I definitely need to check this out more!
you have to press both rotation buttons. iirc the order you press them in affects the "direction" of the 180 (which only matters because the kick table is direction-dependent)

per my frequent postings it has to be original TGM (on the road to Gm currently). I was never suuper into tetris before I discovered this. Absolutely not-tetris but Im a HUGE fan of Lumines. I love the way the music and sound synthesises with the gameplay
An extension of TGM; the only fangame that's clicked with me that Ive really liked is Heboris. Its presentation cant be beat, its super snazzy, tho presentation is not the primary focus of clone games as I understand it

Also I love Lumines too!! I have it on both my phone and Switch :) I'm not very good at it but I enjoy picking it up from time to time!
I've wasted way too much time over the years on pentris.net which is just tetris with all n-ominos where n ≤ 5
I've only played a moderate amount of tetris in my life but as a kid I loved Block Out (a top down 3D version of tetris) and would play it for hours.
Egg Mania on Gameboy Advance. You would control a character and stack blocks to try and get to the top before the AI did, but if you didn't build a proper structure it would start crumbling.
I've gotta give a shout out to Tetris Battle Gaiden, a character-based PvP Tetris game where they just gave all the characters absolutely wild abilities. I'd love to see a variation on this brought into a modern Tetris game!
