An Offer You Can't Defuse

Would 'ya look at this! A programmer in Japan Germany made a Vectrex port of Bomb Jack! I'm hugely impressed that a game this colorful seems to work as well as it does on this monochrome system, but I imagine that any British people who see this will slingshot their underpants across the room with an erection stiffer than their upper lips. "Jolly good show! Now do Silkworm!"

EDIT: Apparently the developer was Thomas Sontowski, from Germany. The Germans sure do love them some Vectrex! Kristof Tufts did some pretty amazing stuff on the system as well, making Vex ports of Galaxian, Time Pilot, and Moon Patrol.

I will concede that it is a very good game. You have to understand what Tecmo was doing with the jumping physics, but once you learn to precisely adjust your jumps and your descents to earth, it's quite enjoyable. People who don't like Bomb Jack generally were never able to wrap their heads around the play mechanics.

Honestly, I've never played any version of the game -- as far as I'm aware? Looks like something I'd enjoy, though. Guess I'll have to track down some version of it soon-ish...

My understanding is that youtube marks videos as "Made For Kids" extremely adversarially and will turn it on without your permission and then decline when you ask them to disable it because it cranks their ad revenue

Ew. The way YouTube treats its content makers is pretty repulsive... and I'm sure it's exactly the way Hollywood would like to treat its actors and writers, judging from recent events. Why pay anyone for their creative endeavors when you can make them think you're doing THEM a favor by hosting their work? See also the diseased lemur who owns Reddit.

Speaking from experience as someone who mostly uses YouTube in Japanese because yeah, the wording for that setting and description are genuinely translated terribly. They don't make it explicitly clear that it's about whether a video is directly targeted at kids with something like 対象とした, but instead use 子供向け IIRC, which semantically has a similar meaning but creates just enough ambiguity and confusion that it's easy to think you HAVE to check that box to indicate it IS appropriate for kids. I've almost made that mistake before a couple times before reloading the page in English and it wouldn't surprise me if that's what happened here.
