speaking of Puyo Puyo... the finals of the 2023 Kagoshima national prefectural circuit are scheduled for this weekend—this is the big tournament series that's been running this year in lieu of the official Sega events, split into elementary-school and general divisions, and it's finally wrapping up with round robins into single-elim, first-to-5 tournaments for both divisions. Because this is nominally a regional schools initiative, they're also going to have a marching band and cheerleaders and all sorts of junk at the venue, but I have no idea how much of that will be streamed... ideally, they'll throw in just enough to get people to marvel at the idea of treating this like an actual sporting event, and absolutely no more.
