Following the surprise port of DELTAZEAL earlier this year comes Triangle Service's second arcade STG, XIIZEAL, originally released in Japanese arcades by Taito as XII Stag in 2002 and ported to PS2 in 2003/4, with an anniversary DELTAZEAL/XIIZEAL two-pack released for X360 in 2013 and individually ported to PC in 2015. As with the recent DELTAZEAL port, the Switch version of XIIZEAL looks to conform to the X360/PC versions, with an added dev commentary mode. (It's only listed on the JP eShop right now, but it's definitely getting a global release.)

I broke down the history of these two games when the DELTAZEAL port dropped but the tl;dr is that XIIZEAL was largely repurposed from DELTAZEAL (formerly known as G-Stream 2020), a game made for a shady Korean publisher that never paid up, and was essentially the first true, complete and credited Triangle Service game. The big point of differentiation between the two games is XIIZEAL's side-burst gimmick, which lets you attack horizontally by making quick left-right/right-left stick motions: destroying enemies with side-bursts, or the exhaust flame on the bottom of your ship, increases the score multiplier up to x12 ("XII Stack", I guess?), and certain sections of each stage are very obviously designed with the side-burst in mind. The ports let you perform side-attacks with a button press; there is some extra utility to the manual version, but for the sake of your wrists I'd advise you to forget about it.

As it happens, Triangle Service/XII Stag's only competition in arcades that year was Cave's far more popular and lucrative DoDonPachi DaiOuJou, and this new Switch port is dropping on the very same day as M2's hotly-anticipated DOJ Rinne Tensei reissue...
