like harada just wants a 3D foe to crush rather than an actual alternative
and that’s why there will never be another standalone VF game. VF5US exceeded expectations by just about every metric and Sega has decided to just cede ground in the 3D FG space to Tekken, presumably because you would have to have a deathwish to try and contest any space that Bandai Namco holds a de facto monopoly over
I wouldn't take today's lack of announcement as a sign that a new VF isn't in the works—nobody but Sega of Japan gets to run point on VF, and they'll announce it it on their own time or at a JP-centric event, and nowhere else.
I'm willing to be patient on this because I know they're not going to say anything until they feel the direction of the game is airtight, and that they're gonna want to micromanage all the marketing to a degree not typically seen with other Sega-published games... but yeah, knowing there's only so many times a year they might realistically say something, and that they keep conspicuously saying nothing, is frustrating. I wanna play this shit while my hands still work, ya know?
My other big concern is that they might be going full f2p, which would be a hell of a hail mary that I refuse to really consider.
