Konami's TGS page updated a few minutes ago, it seems: https://www.konami.com/games/event/tgs/lineup.html

Cotton Reboot High Tension will be there—I didn't get the chance to try out the demo when it was shown at an event the other month. Fans of the first reboot seemed to enjoy it though so that sounds good.

I can see Triggerheart Exelica Enhanced there as well!! So it'll include Faintear as a playable character (previously exclusive to the PS2 version) and also have an enhanced story mode with higher res cut-ins illustrations. i wonder if they're gonna sell this as DLC or be cheeky and sell it as a new package... Cosmo Machia will do another event at TGS which will be streamed, including details on "future plans" hmm... I guess they'll make announcements on social media or whatever around the same time as well.

(edit: the new website for the enhanced version strongly suggests that it will be a new package... hmm i hope they throw some kind of bone to the people who already bought or crowdfunded the current port...)

BEEP and Mebius are there, but no signs of any RS34 games :-( (I don't think Illvelo Swamp Happy Together is coming out this year as first announced, but hey, you can't spell "f4RShionably lat3" without "RS34" eh? eh?)

looking over the exhibitor list right now, here's a couple STG-related things that stood out to me:

  • Ratalaika (emulation house du jour for Strictly Limited Games, and occasional self-publisher) is doing something with Toaplan's Slap Fight and V-Five; given their usual MO and the multiple other licensees dealing with their arcade library, I'm guessing they're specifically reissuing the Mega Drive ports. Slap Fight MD is a great port with a substantial amount of original content that makes it a credible supplement to the original arcade game, and V-Five... gets points for effort, but the MD just was not going to be able to do it justice.

  • new MOSS games are set to be announced, but not by MOSS... more low-budget Bushiroad IP junk, I imagine.

  • City Connection's going to be exhibiting both of their upcoming Formation Z games—the 2.5D game by R-Type Final devs Granzella, and the retro pixel "Final Series" game by Happymeal—alongside several other known games and reissues (Under Defeat, Wolf Fang/Skull Fang Saturn Tribute, Rushing Beat X, etc)

the website already gave it away, but now it's official: Cosmo Machia's launching a crowdfunding campaign for Triggerheart Exelica Enhanced on Makuake on September 26—they want ¥3M by November 4, but it's an all-in campaign, meaning it'll happen either way (ETA early 2025).

Crucially, the PR notes that this version explicitly will not contain all the content from their previous Exelica port (and presumably takes an update/DLC for the existing port off the table, too).

I know Exelica's a game that somehow spawned an outsized fandom for merch and so on, but shotgunning another, barely-different port so soon after the first one is asking a lot. Just based on how they've handled Shikigami (releasing the multi-language version of Shikigami II in Japan as a second SKU, for example), I think their rationale is that they don't want to risk a straight restock, so they're finding excuses to add New Hats to their games in order to push another physical print run, but for how long can they really keep this up?

So, wait, this is not an "improved" version, but more of a "different" version? That's really weird. I guess that also answers my question if Red Art Games would upgrade their upcoming (delayed) physical release to this newer version.
