(AFAIK, none of the relevant parties are over here, so lemme introduce this—not only is it nice to see more direct collabs between all these folk but it should hopefully communicate the idea that a) the involved parties are all very open to entertaining or even directly facilitating alternate funding arrangements, so you shouldn't hesitate to approach them about anything you might be sitting on, and b) there are plenty of reputable and connected folk who will make sure your material is properly presented, so you needn't and shouldn't leave anything in the hands of random volunteers, or MTL, or whatever.)

Taito's once again gathering requests for games that people would like to see reissued for Egret II Mini, from now until December 11, 23:59 Japan time—these games won't necessarily show up any time soon, or even at all, and I have my doubts about whether there's still an audience for yet another expansion for this desk toy, but they've already shown far more commitment to this thing than I ever would have predicted, so I suppose it must be paying off.

The previous surveys asked for specific game requests broken down by genre, but this one's a little simpler: they're basically just asking people to suggest five Taito games and five non-Taito games, and they're specifically stipulating that people nominate "arcade games that were popular in game centers", which I take to mean "don't ask for unreleased games" or whatever... maybe that disclaimer was on the previous survey, I forget.

Read on for a breakdown of the entry form, should you need it, plus the results of the past two surveys:

Japan's Daruma Dojo community just announced their 4th annual Daruma Dojo New Years get-together, which will include arcade-version tournaments, casuals, prize giveaways and more. The SFC port of this game became one of the surprise darlings of Japan's big RTA events, and the existing fanatics managed to parlay that attention into every-so-often meetups like these ones, and they've levelled up from a few SFC at someone's house to a fully-fledged arcade event, good for them.

What's also interesting is these events have the official endorsement of the original dev/publisher, Metro Corporation—that doesn't really mean a whole lot in practice, but it's nice that they have the sign-off, I suppose. (Metro's now a very large contract dev that works on the likes of Pokemon, so when they say they're too busy to negotiate a reissue of this weird old puzzle game, you can take them at their word.)
