guy went off on me that webp is far superior and google supports it rather than jpegxl so only loner losers use jpegxl

and that's funny because this same guy thinks that women having hobbies and not cooking everything from scratch is bringing about the downfall of man, so i will leave it to the reader's imagination as to what this guy's relationship status is

okay i confess i hadn't actually looked into jxl before. i ran some tests for the site i run and found that jxl was vastly superior to webp in the lossless case and would support upgrading our existing lossy jpgs to jxl without further loss.

and then I found out chrome had a hissy fit and dropped support for it already

I'm very hopeful for jpegxl given Apple's recent adoption of it. It's not everything, but it's a big platform, and should make it make business-sense for websites to start adopting it.
