im still thinking about the puyo tournament for seniors i watched a few weeks ago where the winner's prize was 500g of very expensive beef
prizes like those aren't super uncommon, due to the regulations around cash prizes—a lot of regional circuits award winners with produce local to each venue, and I remember one VF tournament where they had everyone bring a bag of rice as entry fee/prize pool and dude ended up with like 80 bags that he couldn't take home
some TOs do the complete opposite and award people with stupid amounts of cheap snack food, usually with the expectation that the winner will just hand em out to everyone but also sometimes as a straight gag.
