i really hope someone succeeds at chasing the retroarch devs out of the emulation scene for good. jeff gerstmann just talked about using it on his podcast recently and i'm sick of them still being relevant. they severely harassed several LGBT people, one of which famously committed suicide from a kiwifarms harrassment campaign that originated directly from their private IRC chatrooms. their behavior towards the developers whose emulators they fork is so toxic that it was the sole cause of several famous emudevs either quitting entirely or going on a years-long hiatus. yes, im well aware that it's the only way to get multiplatform versions of certain emulators. but if you support emulation then you should just use the standalone emulators on your PC and phone instead. the retroarch developers do not deserve your support. the project is rotten to the core in ways that can't be fixed by just forking the source code. emulator frontends are simple to set up if you know basic tech stuff. you well and truly do not need retroarch.
If your options are RA or Nothing go play something else
Honestly this is a big part of why I hate the word "retro" in general.
But honestly the only way this goes away are if, someone just hard forks RA and does all the upkeep themselves with a new community, or we just be That Person that goes "Oh you know the RetroArch devs are horrible assholes, right? Ok, just making sure." Every time.
it's also just garbage UI but that's another issue
