I was explaining in the middle of a video call that I wasn't up to much the rest of the weekend because I had to read all of To Kill A Mockingbird and write an essay on it. I knew I had already read the book, but couldn't remember the plot, so I tried in vain to look it up online. Eventually, I asked my dad and he replied "You don't remember the main character? Her using the sword? The black sympathetic sword? And the song: [to the tune of happy birthday] ja-mie d'dai-lo at-ten?"

It's a sword of emancipation that, when wielded, fills the wielder and their opponents with sympathy for the black condition in the modern western world.
