I have found no music making process to be more intuitive and easy to learn (as a non-professional music maker) than the free web app https://beepbox.co

It started out as a way to make chiptune music but later got so many extra features for controlling the effects of instruments that it no longer feels right calling it that.

I've been using it for at least 5 years to make little clips, only a handful of seconds long. Sometimes it's a riff I can't get out of my head, sometimes it's just what I hear in the whitenoise machine I listen to while I'm sleeping, sometimes it's a vibe for a game jam game or something.

Beepbox allows exports as a wav, mp3, or mid file, or you can share the extremely long url that has the data encoded within, which would allow people to build off your own stuff.
