One billion Alaskan Snow Crabs have disappeared over the last two years.
The cynical response in me is that this must just be a major acceleration of deaths due to climate change.
There's also a part of me that wants to believe in the much more fantastical idea of one billion of them all scurrying off down into the depths, only to reimerge someday later on
They had a great council of crabkind and, for the sake of survival, have decided to go against their nature and decarcinize.
Mustelids. They're just changing to a different converging paradigm.
