I think the pivotal moment in media in my lifetime was the change from "VCR" to "DVD Player", but not just because of the stored contents' format changing. It was also because the operating verb went from "Video Cassette Recorder" to "Digital Video/Versatile Disc Player". At that inflection point, my relation to content was no longer defined as a person who could record what I saw on television nor through home movies. It became defined by what I could consume among content that other folks had made and sold to me.
