Back in college, I started keeping a coin in my wallet for helping make decisions when everyone around me was too indecisive or non-committal. I'd always check to make sure whether ranyone had any opinion at all before taking my coin out, explaining heads and tails and then asking one last time. Once the coin landed, we'd do whatever it said, so that the burden of choice was off any one of us.
Somewhere along the way, my good friend found a quarter that was seemingly wrapped in gold foil in a way that made it stand out. Either because he didn't like holding change or because he knew I kept a quarter on me at all times for this purpose, he wound up giving me the gold-looking coin, which I still have but haven't needed to use in years.
