Ryo Yonemitsu, mixed by ??? - Scorching Paradise Neo/Burn Extended Mix
Scorching Paradise Neo/Burn Extended Mix
Ryo Yonemitsu, mixed by ???

I'm going to use the new audio support to share another little mystery with you, cohost.

Wayyyy way back, in the Napster or Kazaa days, I was downloading anime music and I came across this version of a Kimagure Orange Road song. It's by Ryo Ronemitsu1 from the one-off KOR OVA episode, but that's not the weird part. The weird part is the length.

See, on the original vinyl and CD, this song is 1:25. This version runs more than two minutes, and it was labelled "Neo/Burn Extended Mix". But if you do a Google search for that name, you'll find nothing2. Nada. And you won't find a version of the song that's two minutes long, either. So where'd it come from? Who made it, and why? Is this official? Probably not, but if so the extended sections are pretty seamless for the time this would have been made. Where'd it come from? Did I get it from the random person who made it, or was it just another one of those things floating around early music sharing apps?

Anyway, this has been sitting on my hard drives since the late 90s, and no one else has ever heard it. Enjoy!

  1. To me he'll always be the PC Engine Ys guy.

  2. Well, by writing this post maybe you'll find this right here. But it's not here when I'm writing this.

in reply to @dog's post:

is this a sade "smooth operator / snake bite" situation where it turns out to have been an extended bonus track version that was exclusive to some tape release?

(I have no idea. I know nothing about these songs and have little to no idea how to look them up, especially what specific soundtrack releases they're from)
