I actually did a (small) thing this week! I got Rando Chrontendo going on Bluesky.

Other than that, I have been staying focused on job hunting. I had a bunch of calls last week, but they were mostly with external recruiters. I put a pretty heavy quality gate on the external recruiters I talk to, so the ones I've actually engaged with are pretty good. A few good leads came out of that, although they're all still tentative and might just evaporate.

I have one interview with an internal recruiter at a startup on Monday. They reached out to me, so we'll see how that goes. Then I have the big, two hour interview with Archive on Tuesday. I'll probably also have a couple calls later in the week, since I have a few other things where I'm waiting on scheduling to be firmed up.

I'm also still, still, waiting on payment for the freelance work at the shitty place I did back in July. They're being dicks and making me wait out the full Net 30, but if I don't get it by the end of Wednesday, it's officially late. I really don't want to have to go into collections mode to recover payment, but I'm psyching myself up for a potential battle. They pretty unambigiously owe me ~$6K, and they're local, so taking them to small claims court would be easy. I just really don't want to have to do that.

I've been thinking about what other stuff I'll be working on once I get job stuff sorted out. I have ideas.

  • PlayStation Experiment 2 is definitely top of mind, but I think I'd like to do a much shorter video first as a palate cleanser. I have a ton of smaller video ideas, and I'd like to be able to do them more frequently so I stop getting into these situations with long gaps between the big videos.
  • I have some bot ideas floating around, but the one that I'm most interested in doing requires video upload support. I really prefer Cohost and Bluesky as the lead platforms for bots going forward, but neither supports video yet, so I'll probably wait on it. I have another idea with Cohost audio posts that I might also do, but it's a bit more ambitious and would require a decent chunk of time to pull off.
  • I still have a ton of other programming projects that I want to put more time into. They're all on the bigger/more ambitious side, though, and right now I have neither sufficient time to make decent, consistent progress nor the mental bandwidth to manage another big project that I work on for a couple hours per week at most.

Anyway, this upcoming week is a big one, so I'm just mentally preparing and hoping things turn out at least relatively decent.
