For anyone that didn't see my earlier post: I've accepted a job offer! I'll be joining the Internet Archive and working on web crawling and the Archive-It service. I start on November 20th, so I have a few free weeks before then.

So what's the next stuff that's happening?

This upcoming week is probably going to be mostly Catching Up on Life Stuff. Tomorrow afternoon I have a combo COVID booster/flu shot, so I expect to be out of commission at least through Tuesday. After that, I don't know, but I have a huge pile of stuff that I want to do that I've been putting off until I figured out my job situation.

What do I think is going to be next on my plate as far as videos, bots, etc.?

  • I have some maintenance stuff to do with the bots, websites, and AWS infra. I also want to look into a few things that have been bugging me, like sporadic Game Mag Print Ads post failures on Bluesky.
  • I want to at least finish the one segment for PlayStation Experiment episode 2 that's already pretty far along. I am definitely not finishing that episode before I start working at Archive, though, because I haven't even started the King's Field segment, which is going to be the featured piece of that episode.
  • I might do something else video-related? I have a few less ambitious ideas that I think I could get out in the next couple weeks. It really just depends on how things play out.

I have really big plans overall, but right now, I'm not really worrying too much about the short-term. I'd much rather get a consistent pace established for 2024 than rush to get stuff out now, because I have been very much enjoying sleeping a lot this weekend.
