This week's Big Thing is that I finally managed to complete the preservation of Byron Preiss Multimedia's 21st Century Classics series. The final game in the series, The Essential Frankenstein, is now up on Archive!
It's honestly the weakest of the three. I was excited to see the promise of a game called Monster Bash on the back of the box, but it turns out it's just the shareware episode of the Apogee platformer. But I do like the commentary from gothic horror expert Leonard Wolf who seems like a pretty cool guy even though he's Naomi Wolf's father. It also has some Joyce Carol Oates content in the form of some of her musings on Frankenstein.
But I actually spent the most time this week continuing on the King's Field review. I'm doing a ton of research on this one and playing a lot of other games that I'll be referencing. The script is starting to come together, but I have so many ideas I'm trying to express that it's taking time to structure it how I want it.
I'm now focusing fully on finishing PlayStation Experiment 2, but I'm likely to slow my pace a bit in the short term. Partially it's because I've had a nagging sore throat the past few days and seem to be fighting off another cold. But mostly I'm just focusing a bit more on transitioning right now. I love the effects of HRT so far, but I've also definitely been feeling fatigue as my hormone levels adjust. So far it's been fine, but juggling transition on top of a pretty demanding day job and a lot of side projects is a lot. Sometimes a gal just needs to climb into bed and watch some Let's Plays, ya know?
