I've been following Pat Metheny for almost forty years now, and "Offramp" is one of the first albums of his that I ever listened to. Hearing that set off a chain reaction in my brain; I had to get more of his albums, and then more albums by his band members, particularly those of Lyle Mays, and then more albums on the ECM label. I actually saw him live on his "Still Life (Talking) tour, and it was one of the best (and loudest) concerts I've ever attended.
Anyway... "Eighteen" is a gorgeous upbeat track with exceptional musicianship, especially that of Danny Gottlieb on drums and Pat Metheny on guitar. It's hard to believe that it was released in 1982.
