Happy New Year!
I purposefully have not done jack shit the past week, and I'm just now kicking back into gear. I have a few things on my docket, short-term and long-term.
- PlayStation Experiment Episode #1: This has been a long time coming, and progress slowed down to a crawl at the end of last year due to work stuff. It's been a learning process figuring out how to do this kind of longform video content, but I'm making finishing this my top priority to start the year. I'm focusing on finishing up the voiceover recording, then it's just a bit more B-roll and a whole lot of editing.
- PlayStation Experiment Website: I'm going to make a companion website to the video series as a way to share more in-depth research and notes.
- Game Mag Print Ads/Rando Chrontendo: I added crossposting to these in a rush so they wouldn't be stuck on Bird Site, but it's kinda rough. I'm going to add a few niceties like tags on Cohost and anything else to customize posts a bit to take advantage of each platform's strengths. I also want to add a big new batch of ads to Game Mag Print Ads, since folks are still really enjoying it.
- City Connection Plus: I've just recently started on a technical deep dive into the arcade version of City Connection. So far I've just started looking the 6809 CPU (which is really weird for an 8-bit CPU) and the MAME driver. I'm hoping to eventually produce an enhanced PC version and possibly more ports (and produce an annotated disassembly along the way).
- More writing: At the beginning of 2022, I was wrapping up a job writing the material for a bootcamp's cloud computing course that was around the equivalent of a 300-ish page O'Reilly book. I also wrote a lot of material for PlayStation Experiment. I'm definitely feeling more confident in my writing for having completed some big writing projects recently, but I want to do more smaller pieces. I'm likely to use Cohost for this, and I'm hoping to start getting into a regular rhythm of doing the smaller pieces.
