Long post alert since @kayodokey allowed me to talk about Klance. Like, legit, this is a long post. If you're not interested in my ramblings about an outdated ship, don't expand it.
So, yea. as I said, I was pretty late to the VLD fandom. I didn't know about the show until ig 2019. Probably. Might have been late 2019/early 2020, actually, since my first year of uni (late 2018 to early 2019) was my Yuri on Ice phase -- yea no, I'm very much not with the times. Ever.
Anyway, I got obsessed with the show. Like, binged the whole thing in a few weeks-levels of obsessed. And while BotW and Yuri on Ice were really my first intro to fandom and shipping, VLD broke my brain. In the best (read worst) kind of way :D
I started using tumblr for real because of it and trawled abandoned tags to find any scraps of fanart I could get my hands on. Btw on tumblr, ikimaru, heynhay, and leenfiend are still going strong last I checked!
Also lots and lots of AO3 fics. If you ever need recommendations, I am more than happy to help 😌
I started rewatching VLD I think pretty soon after my first watch through, but stopped midway through season 1 because,,,,, uhh,,,,,, VLD is kinda not really a good show? Like,, I was genuinely shocked how wildly different my memory of it was. So yea, I stuck to fanwork because it captured what's good about the characters without also dragging along the plot.
Okay, onto what I've actually said I'll talk about: the fanart I made. (Sorry for the 225 word exposition ^^)
I think the first thing I made was ig an AMV. So, I grew up loving Kim Possible and I somehow had the idea that Lance would think of himself as Kim with Keith in the role of Ron as his sidekick. Specifically, I had one particular scene stuck in my head involving the Kim Possible theme song and then I kinda built an entire Klance AMV around that idea. I don't want to spoil what it is, but it should be pretty obvious when you watch it I hope (it's the one time the music stops and actual VLD voice over plays). You can find it on tiktok (I hope it works. I can't play it in my browser rn but I think that might just be a Linux driver video codec issue).
My next little side project was a little different. I really got into the new Animal Crossing at the start of the pandemic and ACNH content was really big on tumblr for a while. And then, one fateful day, I came across this piece by kiilea
And,,,, I mean,,,, look at it! 🥺🥺🥺 I love it so much!
I was already really into crafts and the models Studson Studio was making at the time and so, according to the dates of the photos I took, on September 29th, 2021 I started working on a diorama inspired by this drawing.
I don't really have a good picture of it yet, because it is technically still not finished 🙃
It still requires some electronics work and I need to get epoxy resin for the sea. But here's a fairly recent WIP photo:
The cables in the pictures are for LEDs, because eventually the star fragments are supposed to light up like so
There are a few Easter eggs in there like the pan pride flag pin on Lance's backpack or that I changed the design of Keith's shirt from having a hippo on it to having Mothman (or at least my best attempt at him) there instead (that's specifically a reference to a fic I really loved where Pidge and Keith grew up together and were both super into cryptids and would watch multi-hour YouTube documentaries on Mothman at 3am together :D - omg I found it!!)
Last, but not least. I've never really listened to music, but a friend made me listen to My Chemical Romance for the first time in 2021 I think. And, yea. I started my emo era 😌 No but I really loved the music. I listened to Black Parade and Three Cheers on loop. I'd sometimes go hours at a time listening to just You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison on repeat. So naturally, I had to combine my two current special interests and made this:

Yea, that's pretty much it. I did briefly dabble in writing fanfic, twice actually, but I put both fics on permanent hiatus (read abandoned them) after the first chapter because idk writing is hard. I didn't have enough of an outline and after the thrill of the first chapter I didn't really know how to continue on :(
As for my current stance on the Klance brainrot: it's been a few months since I've read my last Klance fic. I think the last larger fic I read of them was Hearts Don't Break Around Here by klancekorner. I absolutely loved it! I especially really loved the childhood best friends to lovers trope where they're both just pining for decades and then get together after college. So that then kinda got me into now reading more KuroKen (Haikyuu) fics, because I love Kenma and their dynamic, and also childhood friends to lovers is basically built-in in almost every KuroKen fic :D
But I don't think I will ever truly abandon my two silly little blorbos <3
