buying any product in the year 2024 always seems to put you on some kind of mailing list. my girlfriend wanted a mouse that was on sale, so i got it, and two days later got an email from the company about their appearance at twitchcon. i ordered some prints from someone and now the printing company is trying to get me to buy more prints from them. i was audacious enough to purchase one pair of pajama pants and i still get emails from kohl's to this day, despite having attempted to unsubscribe from them multiple times.
hell, even if you're not buying something, the minute you sign up for an account anywhere you agree to allow them to send you anywhere from 1-6 emails a year notifying you of changes to their privacy policies and user agreements. it's just this neverending wave of emails sent by machines to people who don't ever read them. what the fuck are we doing with ourselves
