and i'm so glad Gundam X decides to turn to the camera and state its themes to your face out loud in the finale. i think it fits with the vibe of the whole show, really. unrelated to me and my pal watching gundam x to cool off from nine more episodes of seed: the HD remaster was... maybe marginally more consistent in Quality this stretch, so we didn't have quite as much to point and laugh at on that front (though not by much, we still did A Lot and there still were a lot of Funny Quality Shifts). there were actually a few points we just... sat in silence and watched the show, because it was being pretty alright! gundam seed can be alright when it feels like it, its just that unfortunately this is not the Athrun and Rau and Mu Show
Kira's whiny bitchboy levels are on the rise, so investors better be buying buying buying. also i know Flay's like, supposed to be hateable, but i think they did... too good a job? like i don't even fun dislike her that much anymore, she's just the fucking worst. cagalli and andrew are both great new* additions to the cast (*i mean, cagalli was in episode 1).
man they really went and made the whole coordinator/natural situation Fucking Weird huh. they went and made it Real Weird. but also man, just makes the feddies and earth look even worse for literally all this? i get this is supposed to be a Gundam Moral Complexity Moment but i feel like they're really fumbling it by just having the earth alliance be depicted as like the Unambiguous Good Guys here and ZAFT as the Evil Guys With The Char Clones And The Bad Boys Squadron while clearly the burden for all this going down is pretty squarely on the alliance's shoulders
ms design still rips though, ops still go hard though. sometimes the show even looks really good for a moment before that Quality:tm: kicks back up
in conclusion: "Gundam SEED is a fantastic spectator sport" has continued to hold up. i understand why they had seed freedom showings where you're encouraged to cheer and shout and shit now. seed is perfect for hooting and hollering at.
