i cant remember - was it you who identified my chunk of galena a couple months back?
are you very specifically a fan of lead ore?
it was, yes
and no; it's just that galena:
And I know place-names! Usually they'll call a town Galena or Potosi any time they strike the stone, hoping it'll be silver-rich and their local molehill will be the next Cerro Rico. And there's a town village called Galena not far from where I live!
However, Galena OH does not, to my knowledge, have any history of lead mining. Or silver or zinc mining. Or any mining.
It was founded as Zoar in 1816, which means that it was probably (without checking if it was) founded by Lutheran schismatics of the Radical Pietism variety (after checking who founded Zoar, Tuscarawas County, Ohio.)
