it's cold. the boys are cold, too, and they got no place to lay down but frozen ground. I hope they'll be able to cuddle together tonight.
rambling after the read more.
so there's 3 ways to get to the boys when they're at the feeder side of the mud pasture:
- the public road, leading to their front gate. I generally avoid this because I don't like the idea of someone who knows my name (tiny-ass village this is) seeing me talk to cows. and I especially don't wanna run into the cows' owner.
- the long way, going all the way around the pasture from behind and along the edge of the field. generally the best way, but there's only a small strip of grass to walk on, and sometimes not even that and then I gotta walk on the field which is very sticky soil.
- the short way that goes across the pasture itself, for which I have to either jump the stream or wade through it (at times when the water is low), get through a swampy and muddy bit, and then slip under the fence on the other side.
today I chose the short way because the ground is frozen enough that the swamp becomes walkable. still gotta pay attention not to step into an ice puddle because I imagine they are quite deep.
