halcyon garden

I tried getting some pictures of the egyptian geese and the deer with my dad's little Coolpix B500 camera today. I don't have a tripod for it right now so I steadied it by resting it on a walking stick, which doesn't work all that well but it's definitely an improvement over the phone cam for these far away subjects.

the other two pics are of stuff growing in my garden. the silly daffodil is one I bought pre-sprouted and planted. the forsythia was already there and it is, of course, blooming way too early in the year. forsythia doesn't produce any nectar, pollen or fruit and it just exists to look pretty and gay for a couple weeks a year, which I find inspiring. I'll def try to get some more plants in there that are actually good for wildlife though.

animals of the day, feat. tiny greenish birds with yellow wing markings that I thought were greenfinches at first, but they're not! I looked closely and I think they're Eurasian siskins :3 also feat. classic far away deer, and of course the boys.

going out at/after sunset on an overcast day means I only have enough light to take very gloomy looking pictures of trees. but I did see deer also. there's a deer pic of the usual dubious quality behind the read more. don't worry about the two-headed one.

I saw these deer on my walk. There's 5 deer. They were very far away. It was shortly after sundown. My phone cam doesn't have real zoom. Therefore, this is what the picture documenting this event looks like. I was happy to finally see some deer because I love deer.
