it was already after sunset when I went outside today. after refilling the bird feeders in my garden, which I do every day, I walked down towards the cow pasture. the boys were hanging out on the close side of the stream, where a lot of blooming blackthorn trees are, and it was such an idyllic looking scene.
the cows were settling down, so I sat beside them on the ground, right underneath the fence, which might as well have not existed. everyone was very chill. Little One came to sniff and lick me a bit and I gave him some nose scritchies and some of that good grass from the other side of the fence.
the weather was mild, the song thrushes and blackbirds were singing beautifully and the moon was standing above us all. I stayed until it was quite dark and the birds were done with their songs.
