I'm investigating different hydrocolloids for food-grade eggs to shove up inside somebody.
The issue with (animal) gelatin is that it melts at room temperature.
Agar, carrageenan, and sodium alginate are my current favorite options.
What would give me the firmest solid, though?
Is it just a matter of concentration of powder into the mix?
The benefit to sodium alginate is that it's thermoirreversible, so once it's a gel, it's staying a gel. But that's no good to me if it's not dense like silicone.
Thoughts?
It turns out there aren't a lot of videos on youtube demonstrating how to make each of them thicker than jello, 'cause people aren't as much freaks about it as they should be.
I'm unwilling to spend $300 buying enough of each to test batches with different mixes, so hope someone can help.
