i refuse to entertain the idea that the universe is an "uncaring void". you're not a stranger to the universe. the big bang produced you, and you care.

i refuse to entertain complaints that love is "just a chemical". everything is a chemical. love is made of the same stuff you are. when you complain that love is a chemical all i hear is that, in your opinion, love is too real.

We are [part of/a manifestation of] the universe, we can impose care and purpose onto it and in fact have a responsibility to do so

absolutely agreed

it's a collaboration. we are part of the universe, providing the intelligence and goal-direction and storytelling, while the rest of the universe provides all the STUFF

I think a lot about this. It really seems to be the opposite, where intention and consciousness matters a LOT in the structure of -whatever all this is-.

Our understanding of things isn't very good, and gets worse the further away from our scale you go in both directions. We haven't seemed to hit the floor or ceiling (if there is one) in our observations of scale. But we can see that consciousness (observation) has a tangible and physical effect on the outcome of quantum experiments.

I've come to think that consciousness is the basic -stuff- that reality is built out of, which leads to the possibility that everything has some level of experience. I recommend Itzhak Bentov's book Stalking the Wild Pendulum for an engaging and scientific deep dive into that idea.
