sort of bleak thinking abt "lore" as a privatised replacement for the way that artworks can grow and be supplemented by things outside themselves.. the way things with the most lore are also often what seem most paltry when viewed in the light of anything around them, as if they had to create a whole pocket universe to seem interesting within, one with no rivals.. the degradation of history into myth and "the mythic" as mode most suitable for dealing with the vagueness, confusion, repetition of ip history, not knowing or caring if it's good for anything else, a cultural equivalent of the descent into the feudal.. im sorry but all those articles like We Rank The Ten Most Fuckable Offscreen Destiny 2 Personages were absolutely up there with the all time most gruesome moments of vg crit for me
